Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a drilling method which is capable of preventing a cup- shaped rotary die of a hole saw from being inclined to allow the hole saw to drill a truly round hole of accurate size on the surface of a pipe. CONSTITUTION:With this method, a saw blade 320 is formed on the end face of a cup-shaped rotary die 32, the shaft body of drilling machine 3, the shaft body of which is provided to be projected from the middle part of the die, is inserted a reference hole 4 of the side face of a pipe, and the side face of the pipe is drilled by rotating the cup-shaped rotary die. Further, a formed sheet 2 having a guide groove 21 for the saw blade of the cup-shaped rotary die on its surface is installed on the side face of the pipe, the shaft body of the drilling machine is inserted into the reference hole penetrating through the sheet and the pipe 1, and the cup-shaped rotary die is rotated to cut the formed sheet along the guide groove, and simultaneously the side face of the pipe.
