Summary:PURPOSE:To realize the optimum condition of supply of cutting liquid to a tool and collection of chips produced by cutting in the field of ultra-precision cutting. CONSTITUTION:A force sensor 6 which detects machining reaction force of tool A is mounted on a tool rest 3, and its detection signal is converted into digital signal and taken in a computer 9. A storage means 10 is connected to the computer 9. A plural number of mode pattern signals which are classified in accordance with the condition of machining surface at the time of cutting which is stored in the storage means 10 and output signals obtained from the force sensors 6 are compared by a comparison means 11. At least either or both of cutting liquid supply condition during machining and chip collection condition are detected. Cutting liquid supply device and chip collection condition adjusting device are automatically controlled in accordance with the results of the detection to adjust cutting conditions to the machining condition in which normal mirror face is obtained.
