Summary:PURPOSE:To realize the radio telephone set in which solid-state recording processing by using a semiconductor memory is implemented efficiently. CONSTITUTION:The radio telephone set in which a voice signal compressed by high efficient coding and processed into a digital data is sent with a base station in a radio wave uses a variable length coding circuit 21 to apply variable length coding to the voice signal received from a base station and the voice signal subject to variable length coding is stored in a semiconductor memory 23, in which solidstate recording is implemented.
