PURPOSE:To purify hydrocarbon, CO and SOF and, at the same time, to reduce an exhausted quantity of diesel particulate and to reduce an exhausted quantity of a sulfate. CONSTITUTION:A waste gas cleaning catalyst for diesel engine consists of a carrier base substance 1, a coating layer 2 being formed with at least one kind of material selected from alumina, titania and silica on the surface of the carrier base substance and obtains an oxide 3 of at least one kind of metal selected from Cu, Fe, Ni, Ce, Mg and Ca, and a catalystic metal 4 carried on a coating layer.
