Summary:PURPOSE:To correctly detect the leakage of seawater without erroneous operation by a method whereby the seawater circulating inside a thermal power plant or the like is sampled, and the concentration of each component such an Na contained in the seawater is continuously monitored. CONSTITUTION:An exciting laser light is guided to a color laser by a beam splitter 4. A turning mirror 9 of the dye laser continuously changes the wavelength of the dye laser by an automatic rotary stage 10. Laser beams of two kinds of wavelengths are introduced to a frame 18 in the same optical axis by dichroic mirrors 16, 17. The generated fluorescence is converted to electric signals by a photomultiplier 22. An interference filter 23 which distinguishes fluorescences of Na and Mg synchronously rotates with the laser, and inputs the fluorescences separately to the photomultiplier 22. The electric signal from the photomultiplier 22 is amplified by a preamplifier 24 and input to a dividing circuit 25. The circuit 25 detects the ratio of the Na and Mg fluorescence signals, thereby to distinguish the increase of Na due to the contamination inside the system and that consequent to the leakage of the seawater.
