PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new compounds useful as a plant growth regulator due to its manifestation of excellent plant growth regulating actions such as growth suppressing, root taking promoting, lateral bud development promoting, rooting promoting and flowering promoting actions on plants. CONSTITUTION:Compounds expressed by formula I (Q is 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic or condensed heterocyclic ring having 1-3 unsubstituted or lower alkyl group-substituted hetero-atoms; R is 1-5C alkyl or cyclopropyl; (n) is 1-4). The above-mentioned compounds are obtained by reacting a compound expressed by formula II with a compound expressed by the formula Q-(CH2)n-OH in the presence of a catalyst such as concentrated sulfuric acid in a solvent such as THF, reacting the resultant compound expressed by formula III in a solvent such as THF containing 0.1-2NHCl added thereto, then reacting the produced compound expressed by formula IV with a compound expressed by the formula RCOC1 in the presence of a base such as pyridine, providing a compound expressed by formula V and subsequently reacting the produced compound in the presence of a rearrangement catalyst such as N-methylimidazole.
