Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the purity and to obtain a fine copy, by reducing the printing density of cyan C which includes magenta as unnecessary factor Cm which is identified by detecting the negative part of the magenta M. CONSTITUTION:In a correction circuit, the three primary color signal R-B is supplied from a signal source 1 to a logarithm conversion circuit 31-33, and converted into density signals cyan C, magenta M and yellow Y. They are supplied to a matrix calculation circuit 41-43 and converted into signals C-M with masking correction. The corrected signal M is supplied to a detection circuit 62, and the negative part generated to the signal M is detected, and supplied to an adding circuit A1. An attenuator 72 is used to decide the volume to be reduced of the cyan C at the time of printing according to negative part generated to the signal M. From the adding circuit A1, the masking correction as well as the signal C with purity correction are picked up.
