Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the subject copolymer having high ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid addition degree, excellent adhesivity, excellent printability, etc., and useful for automotive parts, packaging materials, etc., by melt-reacting a specific unsaturated copolymer resin, an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, etc., in a closed reactor. CONSTITUTION:(A) An unsaturated copolymer resin comprising (i) one kind or more of 2-12C alpha-olefin (preferably ethylene, propylene) and (ii) 0.1-50mol.% of a chain non-conjugated diene of the formula (n is 1-10; R -R are H, 1-8C alkyl) (preferably 4-methyl-1,4-hexadiene) and (B) an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative (e.g. maleic acid, acrylic acid) are melt-kneaded at a temperature above the melting point of the polymer in a closed reactor to obtain the objective copolymer.
