Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the ciphering performance by incorporating an infrared ray transmission means comprising a light emitting diode or the like to the microphone so as to use an infrared ray as a communication means of a cordless microphone system. CONSTITUTION:A microphone 1 is provided with a sound collection section 2, a main body section 3 and an infrared ray transmission section 4. A sound collection device 2a comprising a diaphragm, a voice coil and a magnet or the like is arranged in the inside of the sound collection section 2, which converts a picked-up sound is converted into an electric signal. The sound signal converted into the electric signal is fed to an LED drive circuit, which applies luminous drive to an LED light emitting element 4b arranged in the infrared ray transmission section 4 based on the voice signal so that the brightness is modulated. The infrared ray signal outputted in this way transmits through a transparent cover 4a of the infrared ray transmission section 4. Moreover, a projection body 6 is formed in the vicinity of the infrared ray transmission means 4 and a surface of the transmission means 4 is not almost in contact with a horizontal plane when the microphone 1 is placed almost on the horizontal face.
