Summary:PURPOSE:To provide the electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity and stable potential characteristics during repeated uses by incorporating a specified disazo pigment in a photosensitive layer or an electric charge generating layer formed on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic sensitive body contains in the photosensitive layer or the charge generating layer formed on the conductive substrate the disazo pigment represented by formula I: A1-N=N-Ar1-(CH=CH)P-Ar2-N=N- A2 in which each of A1 and A2 is a group represented by formula II or the like; and each of Ar1 and Ar2 is phenylene or naphthylenyl group, and when each of X1-X5 combines with the benzene ring, and forms a benzocarbazole ring of a coupler residue, this pigment is suitable as an electron generating material for semiconductor laser beams, and it is especially preferred to use this photosensitive layer for the charge generating layer and to laminate a charge transfer layer on it to compose the functionally separated type photosensitive layer.
