Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the high-definition display device which generates no crosstalk in time-division driving. CONSTITUTION:A couple of substrates are arranged while a transparent substrate is used as one of them, electrodes are provided on the opposite surfaces of the substrates, and a material which varies in the quantity of transmitted light by the impression of an electric field is sandwiched between the electrodes to constitute the display device. The electrodes formed on the opposite surfaces of the substrate 1 consists of scanning electrodes and signal electrodes, which cross each other to constitute display parts; and the signal electrodes are composed of electrodes which are formed independently by the display parts and the external lead lines 4 of the independent electrodes are led out to the reverse surface of the substrate by penetrating the substrate where the electrodes are provided.
