Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the application efficiency of a recording area by inverting an optical card or an optical head at a position outside the recording area of the optical card and keeping a fixed relative speed between the card and the head on the recording area of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A mounting stand 25 moves to the right from the paper surface and a projection 61 interrupts a sensor 62. Then a signal is produced from the sensor 62 and supplied to a servo motor 27 which controls a motor 26 for drive of the stand 25. The motor 26 starts its deceleration after a fixed period of time by the signal given from the motor 27 and then has acceleration after stop and inversion. This acceleration is stopped at a prescribed speed. The motor 26 is revolved at a fixed speed. The similar actions are repeated when a projection 61' reaches the position of a sensor 62'. Thus the motor 26 has reciprocating motions. An area where the motor 26 is accelerated up to a fixed speed by the reverse revolutions of the motor 26 serves as a recording area of an optical card. Thus the application efficiency of a recording area can be improved.
