Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a molded item which is convenient to be carried with and is excellent for treating vomitted items in a car, a boat, a platform, etc., treating discharges of domestic animals, pets, etc., and treating sludges, etc., by mixing a wooden powder or an org. fiber with a highly water-absorptive resin and molding the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A wooden powder (e.g. a sawdust) or an org. fiber (e.g. a cotton) and a highly water-absorptive resin (e.g. a crosslinked product of a salt of acrylic acid) are mixed and the mixture is compression-molded by heating. The compounding ratio (pts.wt.) of the wooden powder or the org. fiber to the highly absorptive resin is 99:1 to 70:30, pref. 97:3 to 80:20. For example, 97 pts.wt. sawdust being adjusted to a water content of 10% and 3 pts.wt. crosslinked product of sodium polyacrylate are mixed by means of a blender and the mixture is compression-molded by heating at 250-300 deg.C by means of an extruder to obtain a compression-molded item. In addition, this molded item can adsorb both water and an oil from a mixture of water and the oil.
