Summary:PURPOSE:To effectively treat insect pests belonging to the Homoptera suborder such as planthoppers, leafhoppers and aphids, their habitats or their injuring crops with a specific 4-substituted-2-chlorophenoxypropylpyrazole derivative. CONSTITUTION:Pest insects belonging to the Homoptera suborder such as planthoppers, leafhoppers, aphids and whiteflies, their habitats or their injuring crops are controlled with an agent containing a 4-substituted-2- chlorophenoxypropylpyrazole derivative of formula I (X is 0, methylene) [e.g. 1-[3-[2-chloro-4-(3,5difluorophenoxy)phenoxy]propyl]pyrazole] as an active ingredient and, if desired, an additive and/or a carrier. The compound of formula I is effective at a dose of approximately 0.001-500g per 10 are. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (B is halogen, methanesulfonyloxy, etc.) with a pyrazole compound of formula III.
