Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce a residual error after waveform equalization and to improve the stability at waveform equalization altogether with respect to the wave form equalizer using a VITS signal so as to implement waveform equalization. CONSTITUTION:This waveform equalization circuit is provided with a changeover circuit 3 selecting the input television signal or the output signal of a VITS signal latch circuit 2 to the input to a waveform equalization circuit 4, a waveform distortion change detection circuit 1 detecting a change in the state of the input signal at the input stage of the switching circuit 3, memories 5 storing the input and output of the waveform equalization circuit 4 and a CPU 6 fetching the signal from the memories 5 to implement waveform qualization operation.
