Summary:PURPOSE:To enable a chip carrier with lead comprising upper and lower cover regardless of the fitting precision thereof to be inserted into an IC socket base board without losing the function of the insertional direction regulating corner parts formed in the corner parts in the sidewall surface of the IC socket base board. CONSTITUTION:Within the title IC socket, the insertional direction regulating corner part 1a provided only in the lower corner part of an IC socket base board 1 is made applicable only to the insertional direction regulating corner part formed in the lower cover 5 of a chip carrier 3 with lead but not applicable to the other insertional direction regulating corner part 4a formed in the upper cover 4. Through these procedures, the chip carrier 3 with lead can be easily inserted into the IC socket base board 1 without fail regardless of the fitting precision of the upper and lower covers 5, 4 of the chip carrier 3 with lead.
