PURPOSE:To automatically adjust the size and the position of a picture display area in accordance with the timing specification of an input video signal. CONSTITUTION:Setup voltage VSU included in a video signal VS is detected by a comparator 3, a timing information reading circuit 4 detects display start timing t1H', t1V' and the display finish timing t2H', t2V' by one line and one screen based on the detected setup voltage VS. An arithmetic means 5 finds display periods of one line and one screen TdH'=(t2H'-t1H'), TdV'=(t2V'-t1V'), and finds the ratio of these values to the reference value TdH/TdH, TdV/TdV. Also, concerning hourly relative relation with display periods TdH, TdV and horizontal/ vertical synchronizing signals, deviation from the reference relative relation is found. A picture display area adjusting means 8 corrects respectively the amplitude values of horizontal/vertical deflection current corresponding to values found in the arithmetic means 6. Also, the level or the phase of horizontal deflection current and the level of vertical deflection current corresponding to the deviation of hourly relative relation of found display periods respectively are corrected.
