Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the easy manufacturing method for the nuclear fuel pellet which possesses the superior nuclear and thermal characteristic equal to those of a hollow nuclear fuel pellet and with which the corrosion crack of a cladding pipe can be prevented and the nuclear fuel element having the nuclear fuel pellet. CONSTITUTION:As for a nuclear fuel element having the nuclear fuel pellet in which a zirconium copper group or carbon group nuclear fission product catching material is incorporated, the nuclear fuel pellet is pressure-molded, by inserting a nuclear fission product catching material 13 which is previously pressure-molded to a shape in combination of a thin disc and a round rod, into a pressure molding tool 9 for the nuclear fuel pellet. Then, the filling with uranium dioxide powder 14 is carried out. Then, the uranium dioxide powder 14 containing the nuclear fission product catching material 13 is pressure-molded.
