Summary:PURPOSE:To avoid a stepout of a throttle valve driving step motor by preventing its resonance. CONSTITUTION:A step motor 2 for driving a throttle valve 1 opened and closed is rotated to be controlled by a control unit 4. In the control unit 4, the step motor 2 is given an output pulse at a pulse rate, gradually increased to show a maximum value on the halfway thereafter changed to decrease, in accordance with a deviation from the actual opening when a target opening of the throttle valve 1 is changed by steps. Possibility of a motor stepout is decided from the deviation between the target opening and the actual opening and the pulse rate or the like in this point of time, and when the possibility of the motor stepout is decided to be generated, relating to a maximum value of the pulse rate in the target opening at this time, a peak value of the pulse rate at the time of step-changing the target openning of predetermined times thereafter is set lower by a predetermined amount. In this way, a peak period of the pulse rate is changed and displaced from the resonance period of the step motor 2, to prevent the stepout due to resonance.
