CONSTITUTION:A drive voltage Vp' lower than a drive voltage Vp for delivering an ink drop is generated from a detection driver circuit 21 to be applied to piezoelectric elements in a plurality of driven channels 23a. On the other hand, in piezoelectric elements in undriven channels 23b, a residual vibration causes an electromotive force, and a residual pressure wave is detected by a detection circuit 24.
