Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an image of high quality which is free from the defective distribution of signal charge with optimization of the drive voltage when the signal charge is distributed to a horizontal shift register from a vertical shift register of a CCD image sensor of a dual channel reading structure. CONSTITUTION:When a horizontal shift register of a CCD image sensor of a dual channel reading structure is driven, a switch circuit 1.2 is turned on and the drive pulse of a CCD driver 10 is applied to a transfer electrode 16 in a valid video period of a single horizontal scanning period. The switch circuits 151 and 13 connected to the power supplies 152 end 153 respectively are turned on in a horizontal blanking period. Then, the voltage of both supplies 152 and 153 are selected and applied. Thus, the optimum drive voltage can be set in the horizontal. blanking period without increasing the power voltage of the driver 10. Then, the transfer efficiency at the time when the signal charge is distributed is improved.
