Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce in size a shape of a beam splitter and to lower a height of an optical pickup itself by using an enlarging lens and a plate lens. CONSTITUTION:An optical pickup comprises an enlarging lens 10 provided between a body 1 and a previously fixed beam splitter 3, and a plate lens 11 provided at the side of an objective lens 3a of the splitter 3 and having a refractive index distribution. A first distance D1 between the splitter 3 and an objective lens 4 is varied to absorb a variation in the distance between the lens 4 and an optical disk 6. A second distance D2 between the splitter 3 and the lens 10 is position-adjustably regulated, and fixed.
