PURPOSE:To provide the body detection device which can detect a stationary body in a state wherein the stationary body and a moving body are both present and a state wherein the stationary body is hidden behind the moving body and appears repeatedly. CONSTITUTION:This body detection device consists of a reference image storage part 20 which obtains a background image by inputting the image signal from an ITV camera 10 photographing a scene to be detected, a body extraction part 50 which finds and binarizes the difference image between the reference image and input image and accumulates the difference image to extract the area of the body that is stationary for a certain time, a body decision part 140 which decides whether or not there is the stationary body in the scene to be detected from the extracted image, and an announcing part 150 which announces the result obtained by the body decision part 140. Therefore, the stationary body can excellently be detected in the state wherein the stationary body and moving body are both present and in the state wherein the stationary body is hidden behind the moving body and appears repeatedly.
