Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a document processing apparatus capable of simplifying the release operation of a range setting a printing format to the arbitrary part of a document. CONSTITUTION:When document data is inputted and an underline is set to a desired range, a setting start mark is displayed on the head of an underline setting range and a completion mark is displayed on the terminal thereof. When a back space key is operated and a lefthand code data of a cursor is a start code (S51:Yes) or a completion code (S51:No, S52:Yes), the start code, the completion code and a set code are erased from a line buffer (S53). The code data succeeding to the erased code data is moved in a head address direction and the document data of a line buffer is stored in a text memory (S54) and the start and completion marks displayed on a display are erased (S55).
