Summary:PURPOSE:To deal with the number of colors and the various combination of the colors of developing devices and to perform positioning at high speed by simple constitution. CONSTITUTION:This rotational type developing device 4 is constituted by arranging plural developing devices 22-Y, 22-M and 22-C storing powder developer around a rotary shaft 0 and executes development by turning the optional developing device to a developing position opposed to an electrostatic latent image carrier 3 centering around the rotary shaft, and it has plural marks(control information) which are expressed by plural elements corresponding to plural pieces of information concerning the rotational type developing device and which have marks expressing the head and the finish of the information. The plural pieces of information are arranged and recorded in specified order, and the number of plural developing devices storing the powder developer around the rotary shaft, the color umber from the reference position of plural developing devices in a fixed rotating direction, and the positional information of the mark from the reference position in the fixed rotating direction are recorded as information.
