Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce friction loss of energy in a variable jet nozzle in an aircraft jet engine by providing flaps and movable wall surfaces respectively constituting upper and lower wall surfaces, and both side wall surfaces of an exhaust gas passage so that their particular portions can be moved toward a centerline of the exhaust gas passage. CONSTITUTION:Flaps 1, 2 constituting upper and lower wall surfaces of an exhaust gas passage in a variable jet nozzle are provided so that the connecting portions of both flaps 1, 2 by a hinge 8 can be moved toward a centerline of the exhaust gas passage by a turning movement, the upperstream part of the flap 1 is turnably pivoted on an engine case by a hinge 7, and the lowerstream part of the flap 2 is engaged with a groove provided on a horizontal wall by a pin so that it can be freely slid. Movable side walls 3, 4 constituting both right and left side wall surfaces of the exhaust gas passage are also provided so that the connecting portions of both the side walls 3, 4 by a slide hinge can move toward the central side of the exhaust gas passage, the upperstream part of the movable side wall 3 is turnably pivoted on the engine case by a hinge 11, and the lowerstream part of the movable side wall 4 is pivoted on a side wall 6 by a hinge 12.
