Summary:PURPOSE:To realize a foldable camera with structure easy to open/close. CONSTITUTION:This camera is equipped with an upper surface plate 101 and a lower surface plate 102, which share one opening/closing rotary shaft, and can be opened/closed by using the opening/closing rotary shaft as a fulcrum an image pickup system photographing a real image, a system for preserving the photographed image, constitutes an image pickup mechanism with which the case body of the camera can be opened/closed by using the opening/closing rotary shaft 301 as the supporting point, and can be used as a camera when the case body is opened/closed, and has structure so as to compactly house the image pickup mechanism in the case body when it is closed in nonuse. The opening/closing mechanism of the foldable camera uses the opening/closing rotary shaft as the supporting point, so that opening/closing is easy for a user.
