Summary:PURPOSE:To enhance the quencher effect (fading suppressing effect) of the org. dye in the recording layer of an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium is formed by forming a recording layer 2 on the surface of a transparent substrate 1 and further forming a metal reflecting film 3 and a protective layer 4 on the surface of the recording layer 2 in this order. Herein, the recording layer 2 is formed by applying an org. dye and the metal reflecting film 3 is formed by sputtering and at least the layer 3a being in contact with the recording layer 2 of the metal reflecting film 3 contains a metal or alloy developing quencher effect.
