PURPOSE:To make it feasible to reduce a non-display area surrounding a display area so as to enable a large screen to be formed through mutually adjacent arrangement of plural small screens by providing through holes inside the outer periphery of sealing material inside a substrate on the rear surface side and introducing a display electrode to the rear surface via through holes. CONSTITUTION:Through holes 25 are disposed to match the array pitch of address electrodes 22 and bus electrodes 15 in those positions covered with a sealing glass 31 inside a ceramic substrate 21, i.e. between the external fringe 31a and the internal fringe 31b of the sealing glass 31. The address electrodes 22 rear connected to the external connection terminals 27 disposed on the rear surface sides of the through holes 25 by coupling portions 22a passing through the through holes 25 and the bus electrodes 15 are connected to the external connection terminals 27 by coupling portions 15a passing through the inner part of the sealing glass 31 and the through holes 25. In the arrangement, the edges of respective substrates 11, 21 are set to match the external fringe 31a of the sealing glass 31 and a non-display area E2 surrounding a display area E1 may be reduced.
