PURPOSE:To carry out an operation of vertical setting of a wire electrode i working liquid by fixing a verticality meter to a surface table with bolts or the like and sealing a connection of an upper and lower measuring blades or the like in the water-tight manner. CONSTITUTION:The procedure of vertical setting of a wire electrode 8 is completed by moving a surface table 14 having a verticality meter body 1 fixed thereto in the axes X, Y to bring upper and lower measuring blades 2, 3 close to the wire electrode 8, locating the wire electrode 8 by viewing the simultaneous flicker of both upper and lower LEDs 4, 5 while a fine distance is adjusted from the nearby position and moving a surface table 14 to a predetermined position without removing the fixed verticality meter body 1 when the wire electrode 8 is held with high accuracy verticality to the planes X-Y. Otherwise, the connection is sealed in the water-tight manner with a waterproof material 15 such as rubber or plastic material to block the connection from the intrusion of working liquid from the outside.
