Summary:PURPOSE:To perform the operation of a sail easily and appropriately without requiring skill by monitoring the state of the sail constantly by monitor cameras, and operating the sail in such a way as to be close to the form of the target data, which is the most desirable form of the sail. CONSTITUTION:An arm 20 protruding both sideways is provided at the upper end part of a mast 2 erected on the boat centerline on the deck 11 of a boat body l, and a pair of monitor cameras 5 for monitoring speed stripes 51-53 described on the respective side faces of a main sail 3 are fitted to the tip part of this arm 20. A pair of monitor cameras 6 for monitoring the respective side faces of a jib sail 4 are also disposed on the deck 11. On the other hand, the most desirable form of the sail in the respective speed stripe 51-53 positions corresponding to one wind direction, wind speed, boat speed, and the like are set as the target curves (target data). The present sail form obtained from the respective monitor cameras 5, 6 is compared to the form of the target data, and a manipulator operates the sail accordingly.
