PURPOSE:To obtain the subject functional polypeptide capable of improving an affinity between insulin and a cell by bonding an insulin-avidity part polypeptide of human VN to a cell adhesion domain polypeptide of human FN. CONSTITUTION:A functional polypeptide represented by formula I [C277 is 277 amino acid polypeptide residue corresponding to Pro -Ser in cell adhesion domain of human fibronectin (FN); X is spacer; Y is human vigronectin (VN) type or human collagen X1 (Col) type insulin-avidity part polypeptide; Z is formula II; m and n are 1 or 2]. The spacer X is Met-Gly in case of human VN-derived Y and Met-Val in case of human ColX -derived Y. A safe medical drug excellent in targeting to the site of insulin action, having a long duration and free from immunogenicity in administration of insulin can be prepared.
