Summary: | PURPOSE:To enable the formation of a comparatively large space below a pinion shaft so as to facilitate disposition of a steering rack by disposing the respective centerlines of a pinion shaft and a differential gear being offset in such a way that the pinion shaft centerline is positioned higher than the differential gear centerline. CONSTITUTION:In a transverse engine type FF vehicle, lines L1, L2 are offset in such a way that the ground clearance of the centerline L2 of a pinion shaft 11 connected to a transfer pinion gear 6 meshed with a transferring gear 4 disposed in a transfer housing 2 is higher by distance alpha2 than the ground clearance of the differential gear centerline L1 positioned at the center of the transferring gear 4. The torque of a pinion shaft 10 receiving the steering force of a steering wheel is then transmitted, but a steering rack 17 is disposed in a lower position than the pinion shaft 11, that is, in a position of a smaller ground clearance than the centerline L2 of the pinion shaft 11. |
