Summary:PURPOSE:To accurately position respective electrodes without spending time by providing an electrode adjusting means to project a couple of electrodes by the working quantity after dressing is completed. CONSTITUTION:When resistance welding is performed repeatedly, the tips of the respective electrodes 19 and 20 generate pickups and further deform. As a result, the tips of the respective electrodes 19 and 20 are dressed periodically. At the time of this dressing, a dressing base 42 is placed on a theta table 13. When the electrodes 19 and 20 are then lowered and brought into contact with the dressing base 42, the theta table 13 is rotated and the tips of the electrodes 19 and 20 are shaped and the lengths of the electrodes 19 and 20 are shortened. A command to project the electrodes 19 and 20 by the working quantity is then issued to the electrode adjusting means and the electrodes 19 and 20 are moved by the working quantity.
