PURPOSE:To enable the discharge of a condensate into the sea, rivers, etc., by electrodialyzing the condensate produced by evaporating and concentrating a used photographic processing soln. with a DC power source and bringing the condensate in an anode chamber into contact with an anion exchange resin during electrodialysis. CONSTITUTION:A pump 75 is worked to introduce a large amt. of condensed water 74 into an anode chamber 69 and a small amt. of condensed water 74 into a cathode chamber 66 through a line 76 and the pump 75 is stopped. Pumps 84, 85 are then worked, electric current is supplied between electrodes 62, 63 and ion exchange treatment as well as electrodialysis is carried out for a prescribed time. The pumps 84, 85 are stopped, the supply of electric current is suspended, a three way valve 87 is changed over so as to connect lines 82, 78 and the water in the anode chamber 69 is discharged into a water tank 80. This water has a remarkably reduced ammonia content and can be discharged into a sewer. All of condensed water in a water tank 60, 35 or 49 is batch-treated by repeating the above-mentioned operation.
