Summary:PURPOSE:To allow the writing and reading out of information at a high speed with a high resolution by providing stripe electrodes, a photoconductive layer to be interposed between the electrodes and an optical modulating layer on two sheets of substrates and changing the electrical characteristics of the photoconductive layer according to the information to be written. CONSTITUTION:This photo-photo conversion element A has the 1st, 2nd stripe electrodes 2, 6 to be formed respectively on two sheet of the substrates 1, 7 for constituting the matrix electrodes, the photoconductive layer 3 to be interposed between the 1st and 2nd stripe electrodes 2 and 6 and the optical modulating material layer 6. The impedance (electrical characteristic) of the photoconductive layer 3 is changed according to the electric signal (information) which is the electromagnetic radiation flux or time-series signal written in the photoconductive layer 3 via the substrate 1 or the X, Y electrodes 2, 6. The use of the information given to the time-series signal and information recording medium (charge holding medium, motion picture film, etc.) respectively as sources is possible in this way and the photo-photo conversion with the high resolution is possible.
