Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption of a capacitor motor by switching the capacitance of a capacitor connected in series to the subcoil of the capacitor motor to make compensation upon a drop in power source voltage. CONSTITUTION:The following are provided: a main coil 105 connected in series to a power source control 101; a subcoil 107 connected in parallel to it; a first capacitor 109 connected in series to the subcoil 107; a second capacitor ill connected in parallel to the first capacitor; and a switch means 113 that opens and closes the second capacitor. The power source voltage is monitored by a control means 115 for on-off control of the switch 113 resulting in switching of the capacitance of the connected capacitor.
