Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a paper discharge device and a discharge method enabling the detection of the allowable limit number of transfer paper stacked on a discharge tray regardless of the size of the transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a discharge tray 1 for stacking transfer paper discharged from a body, a deflectable displacement member 2 provided in the slightly levitated state compared to the transfer paper stacking face, a detecting means 3 for detecting the displacement of the displacement member 2 caused by the weight of the stacked transfer paper, and an alarm means 4 for emitting an alarm by the output of the detecting means 3.
