Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the number of members without using metal fasteners or cushioning material and prevent an article to be packed from being damaged by bringing the internal side ends of angle shaped supporting pieces bend- protruding inward into contact with the end surface of an article to be packed. CONSTITUTION:From the top surface opening of a box 1', an article to be packed is placed in the box 1'. Then, the top part of a notch 2 placed at each corner 1a of the box 1' is pressed inward to make it bend-protrude to form a supporting piece 3, and a packing material 1 is obtained. The internal side ends of the supporting pieces 3 of this packing material 1 are brought into contact with the upper end surface of the article to be packed. Thus, by bringing the internal side end of the supporting piece 3 formed at each corner 1a of the packing material 1 into contact with the upper end surface of the article to be packed, the article to be packed can be supported without using metal fasteners or cushioning material, and the article to be packed is prevented from being damaged.
