Summary: | PURPOSE:To simply and readily produce 3-butenenitrile by reacting an inexpensive 3-chloro-1-propene with an alkyl cyanide or hydrogen cyanide and an alkali hydroxide in the presence of a specific catalyst in a specific pH range. CONSTITUTION:An inexpensive 3-chloro-1-propene shown by the formula CH2= CR -CH2-Cl (R is H or 1-3C alkyl) is reacted with an alkyl cyanide in the presence of cupric ion at pH 1-5, or 3-chloro-1-propene is reacted with hydrogen cyanide and an alkali hydroxide in the presence of cupric ion at pH 1-5 to give 3-butenenitrile. In this method, advantageously, a 3-butenenitrile is produced from inexpensive raw materials readily, safely and selectively. |
