Summary: | PURPOSE:To provide a face recognizing apparatus by which the recognizing rate is further improved. CONSTITUTION:The image of the projected lattice fringe of a face is picked up with a three-dimensional shape measuring device 11. Thus, the three- dimensional data corresponding to the shape of the face are measured. The three-dimensional shape data undergo the correction of facing direction in the directions around the axis Y and the axis Z with an around Y- and Z-axis facing-direction correcting part 18 constituting a facing direction correcting part 14. The correction around the axis X is further carried out with an around X-axis facing-direction correcting part 19 using the regression straight line formed of the characteristic points corresponding to the ridge line of the nose at the center of the face as the reference. Thereafter, the characteristic points are extracted with a characteristic-point extracting part 15 and collated with the registered data in a database 17 with an collating processing part 16. Thus the face is recognized. Namely, the collation is performed after the corrections in the directions of X, Y and Z, and the recognizing rate is effectively improved. |
