Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a bisphenol S alkylene oxide adduct having low contents of unreacted material and subsidiary components and containing a 2mol ethylene oxide adduct having high purity. CONSTITUTION:A bisphenol S ethylene oxide adduct is produced by reacting ethylene oxide with bisphenol S in an aqueous medium in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a neutral alkali metal salt (e.g. calcium chloride) or an organic acid potassium salt (e.g. potassium lactate).
