PURPOSE:To enable a foot rest metal fittings to be repaired handily and quickly by boring a pair of fitting holes through the internal section of a man-hole, to insert the anchor section of the foot rest metal fittings into a fitting hole, and by fixing the anchor section to be opened with a pin to be driven into. CONSTITUTION:A salient bearing means consisting of a salient bearing rod 13 which can be moved forward and backward, and attachments 15, 15 fitted movably on the counter side of the rod 13, and a hole boring device having a pair of drills 16, 16, are set. Then, an obsolete foot rest metal fittings fitted on the side wall of a man-hole is removed, and after that, the hole boring device is suspended to be moved down and is fixed to be saliently supported, at a required position. After that, by the drills 16, through the internal wall of the man-hole, a pair of fitting holes are bored. After that, an anchor section for the foot rest metal fittings with the anchor section set for each foot, to be widened by driving a wedge-shaped pin, is inserted into the fitting holes, and the pin is driven into and the anchor section is widened, and the foot rest metal fittings is fixed into the fitting holes.
