Summary: | PURPOSE:To enable to aseptically and massively culture algae in a reduced quantity of electricity by installing an aeration means, an illumination means, a reflux pipe having a gas-liquid separation chamber, etc., on a transparent cylindrical culture tank. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical culture tank 1 made of a transparent material such as an acrylic resin is vertically located, and a diffusing plate 3 for aeration is attached to the bottom plate 2 of the tank 1. A water pipe 4 for temperature control is further fixed to the inside of the tank 1. Air containing CO2 gas is supplied to the diffusing plate 3 from an air-supplying device 6 having a CO2 gas bomb 8, etc. A water pipe 4 is connected to a water-supplying device 11 to cool or heat the culture solution. On the tank 1 a reflux pipe 12 is installed through a roof plate 13 and pipes 14, 15, and a gas-liquid separation chamber 18 and a gas-exhausting pipe 19 are installed in the connecting part 16. Fluorescent lamps are installed around the tank 1. A culture solution containing KNO3, etc., is supplied into the tank 1, and the culture solution is inoculated with an alga such as chlorella. The alga is cultured at approximately 27 deg.C, while air is bubbled through the pipe 19 and while the air separated through the gas-liquid separation chamber 18, etc., is released in the atmosphere through the pipe 19, thereby providing the alga at a rate of approximately 34.1g/m /day per the unit area of the culture tank 1. |
