Summary: | PURPOSE:To contrive a coincidence in size of a recording mark and recording beam spot and to enable a size control of the recording mark by making a stepwise or continuous change for an optical characteristic of the recording part on a record layer in the manner of changing the strength of recording beam. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam emitted from a light source 21 for recording is converted into a pulse beam by an AO (Acoustic Optical) element 22 and reflected by a prism 23, and the polarization direction is controlled by a Faraday rotator 25, and after expanded by a beam expander 27, it is entered into a polarizing beam splitter 28 and partly reflected therein, then the transmitted laser beam is converged on a disk D by an objective lens 29. Thus, the polarization direction of laser beam is adequately made to change by the Faraday rotator 25, and the plane of polarization for laser beam to the polarizating beam splitter 28 is made to change, thereby the strength of laser beam on the disk D is changed. By this procedure, the recording mark and recording beam spot coincide in size and the size of recording mark is controlled. |
