Summary:PURPOSE:To measure torque at a rotation angle by setting a specific angle and an angle range and acquiring a counted number of reference pulses which indicates pulse width of a phase difference pulse within a desired angle range of all rotation angles. CONSTITUTION:Prior to torque measurement, a specific angle to be measured and an angle range are set. When a torque transmission shaft 1 rotates with torsion, there is a difference in phases between rotation pulses (a) and (b) output from rotation sensors 4,5 so that a phase difference pulse (e) is generated 11 and pulse width of this pulse (e) is converted 13 into the number of reference pulses (f) and counted 15. Pulse width of either pulse (a) or (b) is converted 14 into the number of the pulses (f) and counted 16. Further when an index 8 on the shaft 1 is detected 7, a measurement pulse (g) rises on an output side of a JK flipflop 20 due to a detection signal (k). In addition a preset value is given to a counter 19 from a control unit 22. A CPU 24 acquires the counted number in the set angle range starting from the specific angle so that torque at the specific angle in the set angle range is calculated.
