Summary:PURPOSE:To improve reliability in the read/write of data by providing an actuator whose positioning accuracy is of nano-meter order in each head module. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of magnetic heads 1 are fixed to a head module 4 at the several track 3 interval of a magnetic recording medium 2. An actuator 5 is provided on the head module 4. Following servo with respect to variations generated from the thermal expansion and vibration of the magnetic recording medium 2 is conducted by the actuator 5. The following servo utilizes such a technique as data plane servo. Since constructed such that, high speed data read/write can be performed by arranging one head on every track. Further, since there is no actuator for a long stroke, power loss, a weight and a thickness can be reduced.
