Summary:PURPOSE:To correctly measure a true beam shape excluding an error by reflecting a monochrome beam spot on a screen surface with a D.C. deflection electric source, and moving the beam spot in all directions at a fixed pitch to measure brightness. CONSTITUTION:A D.C. horizontal electric source 17 is increased by a given number of steps to measure a horizontal direction by prescribed times, then a D.C. vertical electric source 19 is increased by a given number of steps to measure a vertical direction by prescribed times, and obtained brightness data are memorized in an image memory 14. A three-dimensional data curve can be obtained by compounding the obtained measured data in both horizontal and vertical directions. When the measuring of one cathode, e.g. red, is finished, then green and blue are measured. This can reflect a true beam spot on the screen of a color picture tube, enabling the correct measuring of a beam shape.
