PURPOSE:To realize stable extension operation without using a motor needing a power source by transmitting the spring force of a spring member to a rotary shaft through a clutch mechanism and axially extending an extension member through a ball screw mechanism along with rotation of the rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION:When an extension device for an extension structure is used for a developable extension structure, used as an antenna support structure, used for a space navigator, such as artificial satellite, when a lock mechanism, not shown, to hold first and second extension members 10a and 10b of an extension structure 10 in a contraction state from the folded state of an extension structure 20 is unlocked, a rotary shaft 11 is rotationally driven through the force of a spring member 15. In this case, the rotation speed of the rotary shaft 11 is rotationally driven at a given speed by means of a clutch mechanism 13. The rotary shaft 11 is axially extended as it is guided by a ball screw mechanism 14, extension is made between the first and second extension members 10a and 10b and the extension structure 20 is developed.
