PURPOSE:To provide a low-cost slurry composition of high concentration, outstanding in fluidity and stability, capable of direct combustion, comprising carbonaceous solid powder, two kinds of dispersant each consisting of specific water-soluble copolymer, and water. CONSTITUTION:The objective slurry composition comprising (A) carbonaceous solid powder such as of coal, oil coke or petroleum pitch, (B) a dispersant consisting of a water-soluble copolymer prepared from a raw monomer system containing a total of >=50mol% of (i) a monomer of formula I (R is H or methyl; X is 2-4C alkylene; l is 1-100; Y is H, 1-5C alkyl, etc.) and (ii) a second monomer of formula II (Z is 1-4C alkylene; M is H, alkali metal, etc.) in the molar ratio (i)/(ii)=1/5-1/500, (C) a second dispersant consisting of a second water-soluble copolymer prepared from a formalin condensate of formula III [R' is 5-12C alkyl; (AO)n is ethylene oxide polymer; n is 2-50], and (D) water.
